Lam joins Connacht
Pat Lam has been given the head coaching job with Scotlands Connacht
Pat Lam had a rough 2012
Connacht have announced ex-Auckland coach Pat Lam as their new boss for 2013.
Pat Lam will be looking to put a tumultuous 2012 behind him with a fresh start at Connacht in the Rabo. Lam had a shocking season with the Blues before being fired, in which the star studded Aucklanders fell well short of expectations with humiliating results.
Lam bore the brunt for the Blues results, with an unprecedented pillaging in the kiwi press and on talk-back radio.
Many felt this was unfair and Lam was even brought to tears in public during the lashing, ultimately ending his domestic career.
"The appointment of our next coach is a huge decision for Connacht Rugby and at the end of an extensive process we are delighted to be able to appoint Pat Lam," Connacht CEO Tom Sears said.
"The position attracted worldwide interest enabling us to select from an incredibly strong field and we are convinced Pat has all the qualities and credentials to take Connacht forward.
